Today marks one year to the day that I have been a Montanan. I love it. I've never felt so much at home as I do here. I get up in the morning and look out over the land at the birds and deer. The animals are everywhere and the peace and quiet are incredible. I can stretch out my arms and touch air - clean, fresh air. I can hike up my hill and look at owlettes in the springtime. I can watch the fawns and baby rabbits frolic in the yard all summer. The fall here is full of color and the air is crisp. In the winter, I can toboggan down my hills or I can just sit by the fire with a glass of brandy.
I have a great job with a cool company. I don't have to worry about quarterly lay-offs or end of quarter website insanity anymore. I don't have to deal with the corporate bullshit here. I can't remember when I've ever been so happy.
I miss my friends and family, but we can email, call, and visit each other. We have been welcomed with open arms up here, and are already part of a group of four couples who call ourselves the "Crazy Eight".
I have a wonderful husband who loves me with his whole self. I don't know what good things I have done in my life that were sufficient to deserve my life, but I will never question them. We have made our dream come true through lots of hard work and patience, and in the end, I can truthfully and wholly say that it was worth every second.
