THE HOGWARTS AU PLS
So Scott and Stiles knew each other before Hogwarts; they met at St. Mungo’s when Stiles came to visit his mom and Scott was there because he sometimes came with his mom so he could bring flowers/plants to some of the long term residents of the Janus Thickey ward. They hit it off straight away, and since Stiles’ dad was an Auror who sometimes had to go out of town for a case, Stiles would stay with the McCalls.
So by the time they boarded the Hogwarts express, they were inseperable and had all these plans fro Hogwarts. They were both going to be Gryffindors, like their parents had been, and be on the Quidditch team (Scott as Seeker since he was small, and Stiles as a Beater since he liked to hit things) and then they’d go on and become Curse Breakers and travel the world together.
Then they get to Hogwarts and wait until it’s their turn. Allison Argent (a girl they met on the train and whom Scott is instantly infatuated with and Stiles thinks is pretty cool too because she’s a Muggleborn and talks about things like the TV and archery and stuff) is sorted into Gryffindor, and she waves merrily at them as she struts proudly to the table. Scott and Stiles hold hands all through the Sorting ceremony until it’s Scott’s turn. Stiles walks with him almost to the front, before a glare from Professor McGonagall (who is super scary but Stiles has heard his father talk about her like she’s his personal hero so she can’t be so bad) stops him.
The Sorting Hat takes awhile for Scott, which Stiles thinks is weird because obviously Scott is a Gyrffindor but then the hate yells out HUFFLEPUFF and for Stiles it’s like the world just stops. That’s not right! He and Scott stare at each other, before Scott is nudged off the stool by McGonagall and he heads for the yellow and black table. (Scott’s not disappointed really, just surprised. He’d never thought about Hufflepuff, but the Hat said he’d be happiest there and the colors were cool…and Hufflepuff was supposed to br right near the kitchen so he and Stiles could sneak out and get snacks any time. Because obviously Stiles was going to be a Hufflepuff too.)
Stiles has to be pushed up to the stool for his turn, because he’s still too shocked to process anything. The Hat is shoved on his head and Stiles doesn’t even wait for the Hat to start tlaking to him (he’s heard stories, okay? He knows the Hat talks to everyone) before he’s demanding to know what the fuck the Hat thinks its doing. He and Scott and GRYFFINDORS DAMMIT, and if the Hat doesn’t reverse its decision, Stiles will get REVENGE and before he knows it the Hat shouts out:
SLYTHERIN!
And stiles just sits there sputtering in shock for a minute before he’s nudged off the seat and pushed in the direction of the Slytherin table. He and Scott spend the whole of the welcoming feast staring at each other in shock, even though their House mates are all pretty cool (except Stiles doesn’t like Jackson, who is a doucheface and probably going to cry for his parents as soon as the lights go out; Stiles knows his type) (and Scott doesn’t think Derek Hale is very nice, he’s all scowly and not very helpful for a Prefect).
By the time they reach their common rooms they’ve processed the information and the next morning both are a little more settled. Scott gushes over the coziness of the Hufflepuff dorms, and how there was Hot Chocolate waiting for them, and Stiles is very excited about all the snake carvings and wants to spend some time finding them all, because it’s almost like a treasure map and maybe hidden behind one of them is something really cool. And they have a good number of classes together (Herbology, Charms and Defense) so really it’s not so bad.
(They trade passwords even though it’s not allowed, and over time the professors and Prefects stop bothering to change them again, because there’s no keeping McCall and Stilinski apart and really, what does it hurt that the rest of the two Houses start to cooperate more and inter-House rivalries aren’t as dramatic as they used to be, because of two small first years who absolutely refuse to buy into them, and it makes the older students wonder if they’ve been playing into centuries old stereotypes and really they can’t let two eleven year olds show them up, and that’s how Scott and Stiles unite Hogwarts with their TRUE LOVE)
