Definitely. I hope we will do something to mark Cora's passing.
That's a catalog photo, but I do own one, yes. It's on my ancestor altar (which I can never figure out how to photograph without showing the faces of my family members).
This was one of the readings at the meditation retreat that I was recently at (which Loki showed up at as well!).
At the retreat, we were doing our daytime work up on the hillside in a tree-lined meadow. There was a great California Oak tree that had sheltered many meadow meditation groups. It had been stricken by sudden oak death and had been cut down just the day before our retreat started. At the closing circle - where we fully emerged from silence, learned each others' names, and sent lovingkindness to each other - we also honored the gift of that oak.
Loki and I stayed for a moment after the circle broke up to send the tree on its way with the Holy Mother prayer, some toning, and our best blessings.
Wow, how cool! Synchronicity. I quite like Bokonism. The science in Cat's Cradle is pretty bad, but the religion is awesome. :)
How sad about the tree. Sudden oak death makes me heartsick. They are such magnificent beings. :( How wonderful, though, that it was honored by so many people.
