Banlieue 14

Luc Besson is at it again with a sequel to Banlieue 13. It'll be out next year. I have mixed feelings. I thought the first half hour of that movie was awesomeness itself, then the stupid thing fell apart.

Honestly, they never should have introduced the policeman character. The story where David Belle's character has to take on the mob by himself to save his sister was working so well -- then the nuclear weapons/government conspiracy plots just killed it. Laxisme in the concrete ghettos of cités has meant the practical end of law enforcement in entire projects, so why not? Post-apocalyptic tales where civilization exists ten kilometeres away, it just doesn't care as long as the violence stays behind the walls lining the highways. Seems rife with possibilities.

Ah well, it'll have David Belle, reportedly. I have such a man crush on him it's not even funny.

ETA: Just got this from my brother at the Clearwater B&N :)
