Hey people! I just got internet in my apartment today, so now you may get to hear more about my crazy adventures! Then again, maybe not, as I do not like to be a slave to the machine, so to say. I've actually sort of enjoyed the respite from technology.
So Rara is visiting me this weekend. We went to Paris last weekend, and then she ditched class this week to come visit me. We just got back from St. Sebastian, a little town in Spain where everyone goes to party. We were hanging out with a bunch of foreign students studying in Bordeaux right now in a bar, and they were all kindly switching to english as Robin does not speak French so well. One of the German guys, Achim, told her to tell an American joke.
"Ok" Robin says, grabbing one of her wrists and looking towards the sky in contemplation. Her face lights up in recognition. She's got it. "Why did the baby fall from the tree?"
No response from the table.
"Because it was dead!" Robin shouts in jubilation.
Everyone just stared at her, as if she was legally insane, which I suppose, when you think about it, is a rather appropriate response to a dead baby joke. Robin and I chalked it up to a different sense of humor, and tried to continue on as normal after the whole fiasco. I don't think Europe is quite ready for dead baby jokes just yet.
