We (Anthony, Matt, Kari and I) left after work on Thursday so we spent the night in Slovenia (getting all the way to Croatia was too far). The next morning we got up and drove the rest of the way down to
Pula.
Frist order of business: Laying on the beach.
I love the beach, but I really don't like European beaches that much. Why? Because they don't (for the most part) have sand. The have rocks. These rocks hurt to walk on, and they hurt to lay on. But still, the beach is awesome. Especially since it rains EVERYDAY in Garmisch.
We'd wanted to rent jetskis, but they were ridiculously expensive. Something like $100 for an hour. Or maybe half an hour. I can't remember, but it was crazy. Instead we rented a paddle boat.
After that we played on this HUGE inflatable obstacle course in the water. It was fun, but really hard, and painful if you happened to fall off and get rope burn all over your side (like Anthony).
Into town to walk around and get some dinner.
Dinner was good, but expensive. We had a lot of small charges that we couldn't figure out what they were. Probably bread (which we didn't ask for) and things like that. Annoying.
The next morning there was this big argument about what we should do. Eventually we decided to rent scooters and go see more of the penninsula.
I was terrified to ride on the back of Anthony's scooter. haha
He practiced by going to get gas without me on the back. I was still scared.
We got to the first big intersection and stopped. Matt and Kari were next to us. The car behind us started honking like crazy. I guess there was a turn arrow we didn't see. Matt and Kari took off and Anthony and I followesd. As soon as Anthony and I came around the corner we saw Matt and Kari laying in the street.
AGH!
We pulled over and helped them to drag their scooter onto the sidewalk. They had hit a car and the driver came to yell at them.
This could be bad!
The driver was mad. We were worried there would be all sorts of insurance to deal with. Turns out he didn't care so much about the scratch on his car, he just didn't want Matt driving anymore! We promised Matt would return the scooter and not drive it anymore.
Then after the driver left we laughed at Matt. Besides some scrapes and bruises, Matt and Kari were okay. We had a discussion about whether we wanted to continue on. We did. Anthony and I took the lead. We went SLOW. I was super-scared now. =[
Turns out we were fine.
We found a cool nature preserve (?) with beaches scattered throughout. Perfect!
Anthony decided to try and go voer a "jump" on his scooter.
I wish I had it on video. You can still tell what happened though.
Unfortunately I was laughing too hard when he was laying on the ground with the scooter on top of him and the wheels still spinning in order to take a photo.
Yeah! Good job!
Helmets are a necessity.
We found a cool place called "Safari Bar". It was awesome. Kind of a maze of bamboo with tables and chairs scattered throughout. We got gyros and sangria and other good things. =F
They had swings!
These big swings were really fun!
And, the Safari Bar was right on the beach!
oo slide.
So we spent some time on the beach. These big flat cliffs were more comfortable than the last beach. =]
On the way back we stuck our feet in this fountain/pool we passed.
That night we went to a go-cart place we'd seen. We'd been tlaking about it all weekend. Go-carts and pizza sounded awesome.
And they were.
It was REALLY expensive. $20 for 10 minutes. But they had a great course and super-fast carts! The boys went first and then we all ate pizza. Then we all went.
The price differed on how fast your cart was. The boys had gotten the really fast ones the first time around, so Kari and I decided we wanted those too.
Except the guy taking the money wouldn't let us drive them! He said they were too fast for girls! Jerkface!
So we got the medium-speed ones, which were still pretty fast, but Anthony blew past me on the straightaways.
Oh well, good times.
The next morning I wasn't feeling well, so Anthony and I laid on the beach while Matt and Kari went on a tour to some island... Yeah. Then it was time to hit the road!
Definitely wouldn't mind going back. Maybe to Dubrovnik next time.
