random book talk
I finished HBP tonight. Won't comment since others have been kind enough not to spoil it for me, but letting people know so I can talk about it online.

Also finished volume 1 of Fables - sort of an interesting comic about fable characters living among regular people.

And I discovered the other day that J. Michael Straczynski (Babylon 5 creator and writer) also writes graphic novels. It's been a good book week. Except that at BAM I managed to be 5 dollars over on my register till again...which pisses me off because I honestly think it may have been John who used my drawer a lot that miscounted someone's change because I kept double counting since they gave me a shitload of brand new ones. Just makes me nervous cuz if I do it again they have to fire me...ok end rant.

CPR
I got recertified with CPR the other night. It was a little strange because it was the "CPR for Health Professionals" class, which consisted of Reston Hospital staff, me and this woman who is training to become a nurse's aid. There were only 10 people and 5 "stations" to work through so we were all partnered up and what would you guess but the two non-employees were paired up. The woman was really sweet, she was constantly smiling except when she realized she had no idea what she was doing. For whatever reason when things were explained to her she looked so sure of herself, but when the instructors asked her to repeat something (something, mind you I had done right before her,) she didn't even know where to start. They kept insisting that she ask for help if she had any questions, but she just sat there with that unfaltering smile. People like that really scare me, especially going into this profession. I may not like the feeling of pressing inches into someone's chest cavity but at least I'll know how to do it and don't get squirmish with dummies...

Heh, somehow this turned into a bitter sounding entry, eh well. On a happy note I ran into Dan Katz and Rachael Strain when I went to Cosi with BT today, walked right past them and didn't even recognize them, BT had to point them out to me. It's good to know people are doing well, just a weird feeling when you realize you don't recognize them as easily anymore. Or maybe it's stranger that I expect to considering how much a year can do to a person.

work, reston
