Waiting for a load, or rather waiting for some paperwork before we can even ask for a load, and I am getting antsy. It has been a week since the Young Lady from Olympia took her physical test, and we STILL have no letter from the doctor. Seems between the physical therapy clinic taking a few days to get the report done and sent, and the doctor feeling like this is a low priority, we are just stuck. I could have taken another load, but I was tired.

Still am. It has been hot in the apartment, and I haven't slept well. Last two nights I ended up on the living room floor next to the sliding door, just trying to get cool. I would have slept on the deck, but I don't know how the mosquitoes are with all the ponds on the golf course. And the apartment complex seems to have rules against everything, and I am sure that includes sleeping on the deck.

I did go fishing down on the Satsop River. Camped out one night and then I slept pretty well. I have a nice thick airbed that just fits my small tent, and the tent is well ventilated. It cooled down early in the evening, and I went to bed soon after supper.

Supper was odd; I planned to have a baked sweet potato and some hot dogs. The couple in the campsite next door, however, seemed to think I needed food and while I stepped away from the fire for a minute they sneaked over and left a plate of their supper on the table. Roast pork, mashed potatoes, corn and stuffing. I really didn't need or want it, but I didn't want to have them think I didn't appreciate the gesture, so I ate it. It was good, too.

Woke up about 5:30AM and noticed it seemed to be misting or a heavy fog so I stretched the rain fly over the tent, and battened down for rain. Shortly after that the rain did come, and I slept in until about 9:00. Best night's sleep I had all week.

Friday I visited my dear little baby sister, dpgnat, and then went out to the Eclectic Horseman's place. He fixed steak and corn on the cob, and we spent some time working with his horses. Mainly working on his newborn mustang to help her get used to people. It's mother is still pretty wild and wary, but she don't seem to mind the baby being handled. I brushed it for a while just a few feet from the mare, but when I reached out to brush the mare she shied away. Just not quite ready for that, I guess.

My host decided we should sleep out, so we collected some canvas and sleeping bags and rolled them out in the lower pasture, behind the horse pens. Just rolled our sleeping bags in the canvas and went to sleep. Or tried to. There were two horses loose in the pasture, and his little mustang filly kept sticking her nose in my face as I tried to sleep. Friendly, she is. Finally she flopped down on the grass a few feet from me and went to sleep, so I finally got some, too.

Sunday we (wife, youngest daughter, and I) went on a picnic to Sunrise on Mt. Rainier. It was a beautiful day, and after lunch we started a short hike. I had a bit of a sore ankle, but I had put on a brace and decided I wanted a longer hike so they stayed around the visitor center for a while and then drove down to Sunrise Point, the viewpoint just before te visitors' center. I hiked the three miles along the ridge, and enjoyed it a lot.

Also ran in to a couple of these guys along the way:

All the times I have been up there these are the first mountain goats I have seen.

Well, that's about all for now. Hope you are all well.
