I never thought that i'd blog again but after what happened just as i was having my lunch made me NEED t post this on my blog that no one reads cause its never updated haha.
Well, my maid, or as i prefer to call my aunt, who has been taking care of us and our house so diligently for about 14 or 15 years i think just showed me how rotten and spoilt we SG kids are.
She would always take afternoon naps and would be very grouchy because she'd have nothing to do and you all know how boring local channels are in the afternoon since mediacorp assumes no one watches tv then since the majority of Singaporeans are out at work or are in school. But she wouldn't have anything to do and having no cable doesn't help.
So my dad just subscribed to some channels on Mio and i was fiddling around with it today. Saw an animal documentary through the peek screen and decided to watch it. Sadly, it wasn't in english and just as i was about to change the channel, my aunt asked me to stop! So i did. Surprisingly, it was a filipina channel (And i thought it was Thai or something haha).
For the first time in so many years, after seeing her upset when her family had problems or seeing her happy when she came out with us every once in a while cause she'd get to have a hearty meal with us, i saw her smile so widely and happily. To us, cable can be boring and really dry even but this one Tv channel made her so uber excited because it was the closest she could get to home. Just last night when i looked through the channels on my own i was complaining "WAH LAO! why no nice shows one.. get more channels eh mum" (of course its not like what it sounds, it was in a playful tone, not being rude to my beloved mum).
Lesson learnt : Appreciate what you have... we are FREAGGIN lucky, really. She's still thanking me for teaching me how to use Mio now. haha super cute la :)
