This was a fairytale, where a poor Spanish is told that he is destined to cross the African desert to find treasure. This seems to have struck a chord with some people (including Madonna, judging by the blurb) but failed to engage me - the plot and characterisations were both very simplistic and (no doubt deliberately) rather childish, so I'd hesitate to recommend this book.
