Sing a song of sixpence ...

The kids are here. KIDS are here! Kids are HERE. And we've been having fun. The grown-ups, I mean. Example: I spent about twenty minutes yesterday playing with Rachel and a Magic 8 Ball. It's those little occasions of one-on-one time that mean the most.

Last night we had roasted chicken, potato salad, green salad, and French bread. The kids ate pretty well considering their willingness to eat unfamiliar foods is dwindling again: anything not shaped like a strip or a nugget is suspect. To my surprise the thing that they were least fond of was the potato salad. Goes to show, unless you've got your finger on the day-to-day pulse, (and even then), you never know what their palates will be up to.

This afternoon I am going to have lunch with my friend K., who is driving all the way up here from San Diego. We're going to a local steakhouse that I haven't been to before. They're running a two-prime-ribs-and-a-bottle-of-house-wine-for-$30 deal, (off of the Recession Menu), and I think we'll be taking advantage of it. It's been a long time since I've had prime rib. The horseradish is calling to me.
