Jimmy told me a couple of weeks ago that I was not to give him anything for Christmas because he was getting me a "big" present, but that it was going to be something we could both enjoy. It was here when I woke up this afternoon: a russet brown leather couch. At first I wasn't sure if I liked it: I sat on it, and it was really cold, unlike our poor, beat-up faux-suede couch. But, it certainly is more luxurious-looking than our old couch, and goes beautifully with our entertainment center. Then I noticed that it has two recliners built into it. Whoopee! And he says he paid only about 1/16 of its worth, and I'm sure that's true because recliner couches are always more expensive than regular ones. I look forward to watching my holiday programming in decadent comfort. Once my butt warms up the leather.
One of my guards gave me one of those Huntsville picture-search type video games that she had already solved. She is my mom's age, but she spends lots of her off time playing video games and on the Internet. Thus we have something in common. I have joked that she needs a tip jar at her station, because she fixes me a cup of tea every time I come to see her. Last night she offered me a cup of decaffeinated chai tea ... then as I was leaving she let it slip that she had bought it particularly because I declined tea last time I was there on the grounds of caffeine. It's funny that she's on the graveyard shift by preference, because she's so gregarious and is "very interested in people." I definitely enjoy visiting her each night.
So, I got a deeply discounted leather recliner couch as an early Christmas present, and a new video game. Also, I bought Jimmy a very inexpensive foot massager with heat ($14 at Wal-Mart), as a belated birthday present, and he has decided that the place to keep it is under the computer desk, so we both get to enjoy that.
I'm feeling a mite spoiled at the moment.
seasonal nestiness,
jimmy,
woo hoo!
