Just spent what seemed like an hour sorting sequins with the girls. The selection at the craft store was somewhat limited, (this far into December, go figure), so I bought a bag of mixed. We have separated them into the following groupings:
Light pink, hot pink, transparent pink, & gold
Light blue, dark blue, transparent blue, white, & silver
Purple
Green
Red
Brown & black
We had only sorted about half of the mixed bag when Rachel spilled the first category, which is also the largest. Fortunately we had nearly cleared the table, so there were only a few of the other colors to pick out before it could all be swept back into the container. After the jumble, I was a little sorry I had sorted the colors into those particular categories, which was based partly on how I intend to use them but also on how many little organizing containers I bought. (Should have got twice as many - duh!) Because after some of my chocolate got into my peanut butter, so to speak, I could see that the light pink would be fabulous with the purple, transparent pink, and silver, maybe with a few of the light blue. But to do that properly I'd have to re-sort them. Not sure if I'm actually that crazy.
In addition to the mixed bag, I have more light and dark blue sequins, silver stars, white snowflakes, and a bag of mixed snowflakes which includes silver and light blue. I have two snowflake stamps, snowflake, holly, ornament, stocking and Christmas tree stencils, 3-D felt ornament stickers, black letter stickers, card stock, super glue, hot glue and a hot glue gun. That's a ton of stuff, but I wish I had also gotten silver and gold ink pens, white, light blue, pink and black paint, and silver, gold, light pink, lavender, light blue and white glitter.
Here are the colors I was thinking of using for each kid:
Rachel = hot pink, light pink & gold
Selah = purple/lavender, light blue & silver
Alex = dark blue, purple & gold (?)
James = blue, green & silver
Alex is probably the most difficult. Scratch that, Jimmy's the most difficult. I am pondering designs that will show up well against the his stocking - it is dark blue. Mine is white, so that will be easy, right?
