A common sense approach

So, it's been about a year since I started making a conscious effort to take better care of myself by eating better. I've never been a breakfast person, but now I usually eat something within an hour of waking up, even if it's just a handful of almonds. I eat a little something whenever I feel hungry, but if it's not mealtime, I usually eat just ( Read more... )

I love reading this. I was raised on crap food and it's still my crutch. It's good to be reminded that food is fuel, with good food making good energy. I need the reminder.

I get the impression that you, like me, are still learning the value of taking really good care of yourself. But I know you've got the skillz, 'cause you sent me so much great stuff! And a lot of the things you post about sound very nutritionally dense.

It's true that I will always be a work in progress. We all are, right? I have hit some pretty severe peaks and valleys with my food health, and definitely try to shoot for the middle as a baseline.

As alluded in a different conversation, I felt limited by weight and time with your package. Had I other options, you would have had different things. As it stood, I figured I could throw in some fun stuff for you and the kids. I mean, c'mon. Who is gonna buy fondue for themselves? But if you have it, who wouldn't eat it?

That's exactly what I thought, "Oooh, fondue! Date night!" And the real maple syrup, the tea, the hot chocolate, (which I have already enjoyed a cup of, with a shot of peppermint schnapps in it - yum!), are not things I would budget for, so those are real treats.

Also, I used the blueberry syrup this morning for French toast. The kids were very, very impressed. :-)

Yes. When I decided to do this, it was not with any thought of losing weight. But, I am enjoying that as a happy little side effect.
