Shortly before his passing Edward Gorey mailed a box of his unfinished stories to the UK trio the Tiger Lillies, who then adapted some of the stories into song and put out the album
The Gorey End. Old news, except The Tiger Lillies are doing a short US tour this autumn that will be a "Songs of Shockheaded Peter and Other Gory Verses production." This means it will feature songs from the
Shockheaded Peter album they did based on the work of Heinrich Hoffmann (which will no doubt also appeal to a lot of Gorey fans) and also tracks from the aforementioned Gorey End album.:
The band is certainly not for everyone, but they're one of my favorites and this is a very rare opportunity for we yanks to see them live. The full list of dates and locales are
here on their website. Below are a pair of videos I found of Gorey tracks, the first with Kronos Quartet accompanying them and the latter a variation of a track that they did for the Culture Show on BBC2.
