He grimaced inside. In word, in body, he had a hand in this: her destruction, her loss of innocence, her death. He was the monster.
As if in response, her hand tightened around his neck. Of course she’d remind him now. She had a hand in this too: her transformation, her awakening. Her rebirth. She’d made her choice. He smiled sadly, kissing her neck and releasing his hold.
