As we all know well, my friends, the transition from fighting fire in rural Idaho to studing Engrish while semi-homeless in Roseville/Detroit can be a bit harrowing. Especially when the one person you've desired to see the most is now further away from you than she was while you were out West.
This leaves me with two options: sulk and suffer through the next year while waiting with life to start again....or, of course, make the most of it.
Ærêgeau, this is an informal announcement to anyone and everyone interested in the following for the next eight months or so, and beyond:
•Climbing, rockwall or skyscraper.
•Running, biking, inline-skating, or any other active exploration of SE MI's semi-extensive trail system, parks, and bi-ways.
•In the spirit of V,HaB(ito), interest in construction/clean-up based volunteer projects on weekends including but not limited to Habitat for Humanity, Motor City Blight Busters, Greening of Detroit, and Sustainable Detroit (formerly the Adamah project).
•People that want to make/build/create things on a scale that either requires or could benefit from collective resource and labor pooling as well as cooperation.
•Those with latent geek tendencies interested in the open-minded discussion of quantumn theory, reform, philosophy/spirituality, quality libation, invention, the rescue of our poor, suffering state and its economically oppressed citizenry.
•Those with overt geek tendencies interested in playing chess. Nate will be occupied auctioning art on open waters on cruise ships for the next umpteen years, so I need a new opponent.
•People that want to make good music. Also, people that aren't afraid of, in the pursuit of making good music, making bad music.
•The large-scale purchase of adajent lots of real estate in anticipation of the pendular backswing for Detroit. You are not expected to take this one seriously, but for those that do....
Given my class schedule, I have long weekends that last from Thursday night to Tuesday afternoon. If you're like me and you refuse to let complacency and routine rule your life, I'd like to hear from you.
