I know it has been forever since I have posted something real. Life has been busy since the big change. I love my life to summarize it up in a nutshell. As compared to last semester, I definitely feel my confidence level climbing, as far as my professional life. For those of you who don't know, I'm subbing currently at the Collinsville school districts, which there is a total of thirteen of thirteen schools!! My experiences in subbing are quit broad. I have been subbing from Kindergarten all the way up to a senior in high school. I never imagined myself subbing at a high school, but I did it and I enjoyed it. Each level has ups and downs and for each educator, in my humble opinion, is a matter of tolerance. What can you tolerate with and how long? The sub job has allowed me to be full time. Last week I received 4.5/5 days of subbing, which is great as far as income goes. Besides working at the school districts, I have received a part time job at the YMCA. Go ahead and sing that song that everybody knows. At the YMCA, I'm a site coordinator which basically means I am responsible for a morning and after school program at a particular school. The school I'm currently responsible for is the Collinsville Intermediate school, which is fifth and six grade. The YMCA gives me 20 hours a week (M-F). I love this job because I get to spend time with the kids on a social level and my name is getting out there. Besides being close to Joshua and family, the main purpose of being out here is create a name for myself. It might be a slow process, but I believe it will be done. I'm so proud to come from a family of teachers. People back home know about us, but I think the Simpson name needs to be spread around.
On a social level, I have never been more happy in my life. Joshua and I just got done celebrating 1 year a few weeks ago, specifically January 21, and it was quit special. I still can't believe it has been that long. The time definitely went by fast and probably will this year as well. We are leaving for New Orleans on Valentine's Day to visit his family and have the Mardi Gras experience. I'm excited about our trip. We plan on doing some helping as well.
To conclude, life out here, so far, has been changing and exciting. I pray that a teaching job up here will take place in the fall. If it doesn't, I will go where my heart wants to go and where God wants to go in life. I have a plan but you never know what could happen. Anything is possible in life and I know all of us has heard that. Until then, I will enjoy my life to the best of my ability and only hope things will take place. I hope each and everyone of you are doing well. I can't believe how cold it is up here. Tommorrow the temperature will be 6 degrees.....BRRRR!!!! Take care and I hope to hear from all of you soon! -Maria
