Cold-blooded laziness

I have a new pet! He is a bearded dragon named Napoleon. Napoleon likes mealworms, lettuce, crickets, tanning under the heat lamp, and pooping. Sometimes I feel he is lazy because he doesn't generate a body temperature that is sufficient enough to keep him alive. He actually steals it from some other source, like the sun, or his heat lamp for instance. I'm hoping that someday he will own up and learn that you can't depend on stealing energy from other sources. I know that would entail him having to eat more in order to produce the ATP needed for maintaining a suitable core temperature...maybe even developing a few more metabolic processes as well. However, Napoleon has a lot of potential, and I think if he could make these sacrifices, it would be a small price to pay to learn the values of responsibility and dedication that are needed to become a mature, productive member of our society.
