I wonder when I'm ever going to have the time to expound on this place I'm in right now.
I just rode my bike to the academic center. Had a bit of an accident. I apparently can't drive a car or bike... I rode right into this huge rock and my computer flew out of the basket. I watched as, in slow motion of course, it sailed through the air and landed on the red dirt. But I'm typing in it at the moment, so I suppose it's alright. Thanks, incase!
Where did we stop? Last time, I was off to Togo. Benin didn't happen. But it was alright, because we still got our motorcycle ride.
This past weekend we went to Aburi botanical gardens and then a few of us stayed over night in Koforidua so we could get to Boti Falls in the morning. The waterfall looked unimpressive until we climbed some rocks and were standing under it. It was such an awe-inspiring experience. After that we took the most serious hike I've ever attempted to caves that were up on the mountain. I considered stopping a few times but thought to myself that I really want my physical strength to match my will. So I kept on. I don't have photos of the waterfall up yet, but I do have photos of everything before that. If you're not already on the list of people that have gotten automated emails of new albums, and want to be, let me know and I'll add you.
In other news, my wisdom teeth are giving me excruciating pain, and I might have to have them taken out. I'm going to the hospital in a bit to see if they're infected and need to be taken out or if this is just some growing pain. In any case, if I do have them removed, I will be sure to provide you with a photo essay of my experience having oral surgery in Ghana. Plenty of photos of an anaesthetized Virginia probably await. Here's to a liquid diet for the next week!
The only thing I am seriously concerned about is this making me postpone my trip to Nzulezo. Nzulezo is a village built entirely on stilts and it takes an hour canoe ride through swampy jungle to get there. I'm trying to set up a homestay because I really want to stay in the village overnight. I'm hoping my wisdom teeth won't keep me from leaving on Thursday (or going this weekend at all!).
That's about it for now. I'm being attacked by the biggest mosquitoes I have ever encountered and I should get going to the hospital anyway.
Happy Valentine's day! And send some snow over here, 'kay?
Love and miss you all- va
