My Dad, the Pirate Looks at Sixty

I don't really have much to say this afternoon.  I'll been looking into birthday presents for my dad and I think I've figured it out.  Logitech makes this sweet remote control that is internet enabled so it automatically figures out how to use all of your home theatre stuff.  My father has three rooms of home theatre so I think this might help him.  It's even a little present to me, as it should cut down on the "how do I?..." phone calls.  Haha.  But the old man turns 60 on Saturday.  That's a crazy thing.  Honestly, I've never felt like he was ever over 40.  I guess there's this thing with parents, children have a hard time seeing the age.  I know I feel that way.  I used to think my dad was invincible... he drove me around in the wheel-barrel.  Now he's always saying something like "well, I'm getting older and..."  It’s just interesting.  But, cheers to the big 6-0.

The wedding stuff seems to be close to done.  I took a bunch of "engagement" photos on Tuesday.  We will have to address invites (note my total lack of enthusiasm) ;-)  I faxed the "big" contract off this morning, so it's set.  January 9, Lake Las Vegas.  Getting down and funky on the yacht.

I am getting concerned about work.  I know I still have 6 months but I seriously doubt that this contract will be renewed.  Talking to some people on post, I know there are some who wish it would end today.  Nonetheless we have been doing our best to advertise around pose and the neighboring AFB.

I drove out to see my old house during my lunch today.  I miss it.  God that was a fun place to grow up!  There's a lot on new houses going up on my old road.  Almost all the yellow leaves have fallen out there.
