This was what I posted to cake_decorating yesterday.  I'm sleepy so I'm just reposting it without changing it. (Ignore most of it and just look at the pics :)

The friends being Henry, Edward, James, Percy, Gordon and Harold.  And the Fat Controller's there too.

Made it for my friend's kid's birthday.  The kid's one month younger than mine.  (btw, made it for free).  It was my second decorated cake ever and she did offer to pay, but I told her to get one from Kroger just in case and so the kid had two birthday cakes.  The inside was multicoloured.  I forgot to take  pictures but his parents did, but it was red, yellow (it was a lemon cake) and blue.  They seemed to be impressed (hee hee hee... it's funny how people will be impressed with a little food colour ;)

Anyway, just out of curiosity, how much would you charge for something like this?  It took me forever  to make (I did make the whole darn thing) and that's why I figured there'd be no price she could pay me to make up for my time.  I did eventually figure out a really neat way to make their faces and perhaps I shouldn't have used marshmallow fondant again (I never seem to learn... that stuff is pure evil.  I wonder why, but it always is so springy and never holds a shape -- finally let it dry for a bit and added some gum-tex to it and it worked better, but I still have to get the gum targwhateverhoweveryouspellit).  Anyway, gordon was the very first one I made so he's not the greatest and percy was the last, so I think he's close to perfect.

Also, some things are less than perfect but I was making the stupid thing right upto the last minute (the party had already started) and I still had to get myself and my kid ready!

This was the inspiration cake: couture cakes  (The cake made for DEVIN) and this was the other one: ttcfortwins

Anyway, here's the cake:

Looks tiny, but that was a 14'' cake board.  I already had it and I didn't want to use the girly doily printed smaller ones.  Also, if I'd had the time I'd have put in tracks etc.  I'm a little disappointed that I didn't.

The whole gang:

Harold sans propeller blades:

The fat controller in progress:

And a few more.  Ok, so I put a lot of work into it.  I want to show it off! ;)

I think I'm going to take a cake making break now.  I wanted to make one for my birthday which is coming up soon but I think I'll wait till December to make my birthday cake ;)
