Kidnapping is so high maintenance. :)

Thats why I love it- it forces the kidnappers into this ridiculous relationship with their victim. There was once an episode of he-man- the cartoon version- where skeletor kidnaps cringer and hikes across frozen wastelands- cringer gets tired and cold and skeletor backs down and carries him! something like that. Gets really mad at going soft over a cat!

:-)

Assassins make great character studies. So much potential angst and plenty of places to go with it. See James Bond and the female character in Munich. Maybe I just like the bad uns.

I agree. It was terry practchett that made me see the potential of assassins- and generally they get the better film roles. Solitary and dressed in black and all those cool gadgets! And so many variations- munich, leon, grosse point blank- all very different personalities.

But kidnapping couples are character pairs- I loved Mr and Mrs Smith- pairs of characters do it for me usually.

That's true. I'm a huge fan of Ruthless People, and if you haven't seen it...

I have seen that, on tv at some point! I thought it was so-so though.

Avoid the TV versions at all cost! The original is hugely vulgar and much nastier/funnier.
