July 30th- Third Year of the Spontaneous Cow (8:00pm)
I was going to go to sleep early today because I wasn't feeling very good. The headmaster put us both on an early curfew because we were bad yesterday, and I didn't really want to get on his bad side anymore than I already was. He might stop giving me sweets.
I was just pulling the blankets over my head when there was a knock on the door. I opened it and found Feliciano standing there. He looked a little ashamed of himself, and I felt sorry for him, so I let him in and he sat on my bed. Then he took out a small package from behind his back and gave it to me.
It was really badly wrapped and there was a quickly scribbled "Happy Birthday" on it. I opened it up and I found a second-hand copy of The Seventy-Eight Steps*. I remembered seeing Feliciano reading this book all the time. He told me that it was his favourite book and he couldn't think of anything else to get me, so that was the best he could do. I thought it was really nice of him to give me his favourite book. Not just because it was the one he loved the most, but also because he broke his curfew for it. We're comrades again! I told him so and he smiled. Then we spat on our hands and did our secret handshake.
He says that he's going to bring me to Jason tomorrow. I can't wait!
