With Regard to Spam ...
... I've disabled anonymous comments on my LiveJournal. I'm not drowning in spam yet, but there's been a definite uptick. More importantly, I get almost no anonymous comments that aren't spam, and the DreamWidth account (where I never enabled anonymous comments) is spam-free.
