September 16, 1620:
the Mayflower departs England, bound for Virginia with 102 passengers aboard - several of whom are counted among my ancestors.
In between bouts of writing (and work) I've been reading Nathaniel Philbrick's
Mayflower, a copy of which I also sent to my parents. Dad wrote that Mom started reading it right away, and took it with her to one of the Historical Society gatherings where she found that another lady was also reading it. So naturally, they began comparing notes. :)
