Inception Fic - More Gangster AU

Someone on the kink meme asked for something like "Arthur is a gangster; Eames is the cop sent to take him down", I think knowmydark said something about Prohibition Arthur/Eames, and since I already had gangster!Arthur and lurking!Eames, I figured I’d just, y’know, work all that in there. Sorta.

This overlaps the events of We Blaze Away, so I’d read that

Oh, oh, oh, wow. I love this 'verse, it gives me chills and makes me think. Your take on this is so gritty and gruesome and real, it's almost painful to read at times, and leaves me unsettled - but it hurts so good. The insight into Eames' character and his past here was brutal to read, I love it.

Honestly I kept looking at it while I was writing, thinking, "This is not nearly brutal enough". So hurrah for unsettled and nearly painful - that's just the reaction I would hope for!

And not gonna lie, I am sneakingly fond of fucked-up shellshocked Eames. They're often more interesting to write when they're busted.

I feel like the symmetry's odd here in that you kind of have to catch it out of the corner of your eye, rather than look at it head-on, and that's always a peculiar way to come at things. But kinda fun to write.
