Author's note: Technically this is not, or not necessarily, an incarnation that never happened, but an early incarnation, closer to Gaiden time than Saiyuki time. However, looking over the story, I see that there is no solid textual evidence for it being an early incarnation rather than a really alternate one, so interpret it as you like. Autumn and spring both have a lot of "beauty of impermanence" symbolism, and I am pretty sure I did talk about that on reading_genji. In fact Genji is probably what inspired the spring vs. autumn exchange, as that occurs there as well, albeit under less fraught circumstances.

I do want to get back to Genji, but there are moments when I really wish a bloody swordfight would break out.

Best thing ever to come in to work to! I love Kenren-incarnation and how he attempts to still be funny and all Kenren-like, no matter what.

And ok, that whole thing just totally killed me and I am incoherently heartbroken.

I have a high threshold for tragedy and melodrama, but the end of House of Flying Daggers actually hit my "too much" button.
