Runaway. Naruto. Spoilers through the very beginning of the timeskip arc

Sep 12, 2006 12:41

This is the third in a non-chronologically ordered trilogy about the Sand Siblings.

Not a Grain of Sand has spoilers through volume sixteen (the conclusion of the chuunin exams.)

The Hourglass has spoilers through volume 31 (the conclusion of the first timeskipped arc.)

Before he’d go on another mission with Gaara, he’d run away and become a missing-nin. )

“Is there a window?” asked Kankurou. “I could guard the window.”

That totally killed me. Really nicely done. :-) The Sand sibs are great in general, and you went and put a great spin on them, to boot.

Act II is my favorite part, partly because I am almost always amused by conversations where Gaara and someone else have a conversation that just doesn't work for a while.

Also, his acquaintance with Kiba consisted of five seconds of conversation followed by an hour of hauling his doggy carcass and actual dog through the forests made me laugh and laugh. As did I bet they’d only make me train for a year or so before they let me operate the head..

Sane!Gaara trying to have a serious conversation never fails to crack me up.

I read up a bit on bunraku to write this, and when I learned that usually you have to train for ten years before you can operate the head, well, if I had missed the chance to use that, I might as well turn in my writing credential.

Sane!Gaara trying to have a serious conversation never fails to crack me up.

I have slogged through a lot of mediocre fic with pairings that I don't grok just because I wanted more scenes of that happening.

Any more Naruto fic planned? *eggs on*

Yep! I was mulling one over today. It's not about the Sand sibs, but they make a cameo appearance (hence the question about their sensei). I'd like to write one that's about Gaara feeling his way back to sanity (as opposed to the ones I wrote where that's going on around the edges of the story, or not from his POV), but I don't have a plot yet.

Hi there. ^^ I'mma gonna friend you now because you write pretty. I'm too sleepy for a real review, though you deserve one or several, but i've been reading back through this LJ and eeee, I love your portrayal of the sound sibs and Gojyo and Hakkai. very poignant and you're good at finding the right word and creating an atmosphere without beating people over the head with it, which is something I really appreciate. so! friendseded. ^^

Directed here from askerian's journal! I'm not very good at reviewing but man, this trilogy is some of the best fic I've read in a while. You have a gift for conveying just the right amount of emotion with just the right words and turn of phrase to sucker punch it in good. ♥♥♥!

“You are such a bother,” sighed Shikamaru. “You remind me of my mother.”

Kankurou ran, away through the maze of corridors. It was that, or burst into tears.

This made me wibble and laugh at the same time.
