voting rub

I tried to vote this morning. I went to the place and left after 10 minutes of standing in line of probably 200+ people (or more). The main hallway had a line snaking through it 3 people wide. Not to poke too many holes- but as long as it costs money to get a driver's license, then it could be considered a 'poll tax' that one has to pay in order to vote. Also, there are a lot of people who don't drive (or can't) and don't have licenses. Now if there was a state issued ID used in conjunction with a driver's license- and both were free to go, I would totally go along with what you're suggesting. :)

Now make sure you vote later! :)

I'm not saying that idea is perfect. :) But I also believe in the "80/20 Rule", a.k.a. "you can't please everyone". The majority of people have some sort of state ID. Plus, you register to vote when you go in to get your license. If not, it isn't like their current voter IDs won't work. You could use a passport too, but that would require data sharing between federal and state levels. Anyway, I'm just saying that we should take advantage of the things we already have. I would never want to exclude anyone, but I also don't see a problem with speeding things up for those they can. The more people you can get through the door, the more time you have to spend with those that need help.

I've only known my mom to vote 2-3 times in my life. Now my dad, he votes all the time. :)
