Here's an article from 1995 titled "The Internet? Bah!" (a.k.a., "How wrong they were".) Well, they did get a few things right, but a lot wrong. It is an amusing read.
Wow, that is funny! With schools he's right, but other than that, I can think of a counterexample to every single thing he says will never happen. I'm not sure he'd even rate "a few things right", but that's just me.
This is a clear example why whenever I read someone saying that some technological advance is impossible or that the hype will never come true, all I hear is a blowhard trying to boost ad revenue for his column, or sell a book.
"So how come my local mall does more business in an afternoon than the entire Internet handles in a month?" Now, that's just comedy. I'd love to see a mall that does $12 billion in sales in one afternoon.
