Post for Lydia

Dec 05, 2006 13:20

Edmund has gone up to Lydia's room to see her and he knocks politely on the door, hoping she is in.

Typist: Because it was said they needed to talk, I'll put it up now. It may be a bit slow but it can at least be started without so much delay! :)

She is in, settled in a chair, curled up and reading. Something by Charles Dickens. The distraction is welcomed, and she marks her place and goes to answer the door.

A soft smile lights her face. "Edmund." And she stands to one side. "Come in."

"How are you today, dear Lydia?" He smiles and takes her hand to kiss it.

"Tenfold better just seeing you and hearing your voice." And she allows him her hand, blushing as if it were the first time she's ever met him and smiling, softly.

He keeps hold of her hand and steps into the room properly. "It is the same for me," he admits with a small wink.

She glows and closes the door half way, enough for a bit of privacy, to show the room is occupied, but to keep things proper. It's open, an invitation to peer in and see that nothing has occurred or will occur.

"Is that so? I think you're saying things just to get me to glow in delight."

"It is indeed a welcome and pretty sight." He smiles.

And she smiles again, for him. "I wasn't expecting you."

"I do hope you weren't expecting someone else...," he teases slightly.

"Oh. Loads of young gentlemen." She teases back and it's evident she's no good at such a humor as she shakes her head and smiles. "No one, actually. Can I get you anything...?"

"Only if the gentlemen are your brother and mine. No... I am fine, thank you," he squeezes her hand gently.

"Just you so far." She tells him and squeezes his hand back, looking to his eyes with a smile. "Would you care to sit then?"

"Very much." He looks around for a chair, hoping for a cosy couch for them both.

And there is indeed a settee, moved comfortably against a wall, perfect for the pair of them, where Lydia will move some, moving the book that was there on the cushions to the side table. "Will here do?"

He nods and smiles and takes a seat.

And she sits beside him, carefully, not too close, but not too far, holding his hand still warmly. "I'm glad you came."

He smiles and kisses her cheek.
