Title: You Couldn’t Live Forever In Between 1/1
Author: Babydraco
Rated: NC17
Summary: Edmund takes a gamble and loses.
Disclaimer: I don’t own the characters
Notes: pretty angsty VotD fic originally written for the Porn Battle, for the prompt “Jealousy”. And I know...and I was going to do something about it (involving a comical discussion with Eustace) but...it just didn't work any other way. I can post the Eustace scene but it didn't fit too well with this part.

“She has a power over you,” Edmund said. “I don’t like it. I’ve been there, it never ends well.”

“She’s not a witch,” Caspian said. Edmund nipped at his earlobe and shifted in Caspian’s arms. Caspian was aroused, he could feel it through their clothes and he wiggled again. They were curled up in a secluded grove high in the mountains of Ramandu’s island, because you honestly couldn’t do anything on board a ship or surrounded by a bunch of sailors and relatives. Edmund almost wished he was a witch himself, then he could make Caspian let go of this foolish notion.

“We have a lot of time,” Edmund ventured. “Time to-to do things. More um…things than we’ve already done.” That was a power, wasn’t it? Caspian twitched underneath Edmund’s thigh and his eyes got dark and intense. “You’d like it better if I was on my knees, like this.” Some people just needed to think they were running the show.

Caspian made a sort of soft growling noise and rose up on his knees behind Edmund. His hands peeled Edmund’s thin trousers down to his knees, brushing over his bare skin, calloused and gentle at the same time. Caspian didn't seem to be looking around for anything to prepare him with.

"Spit would help a little,"Edmund said. Caspian didn't hear him.

The last time he’d done this it had been 1300 years ago and he had been older, so he’d forgotten what it felt like, and his body wasn’t used to it anymore. There was pain, but not enough to make it less than completely worth it, and it felt so good anyway. He pressed back against Caspian to let him know it was better than alright. She would never give him this, but Edmund could, because he wasn’t some perfect, sparkling dream princess so fucking special that she didn’t even have to give them her name. She’d never get down on her knees in the dirt.

Caspian thrust hard and Edmund gasped, his fingers scrabbling in the grass. He wanted to touch himself, but when he tried Caspian simply snatched his wrist and pulled it away, slamming Edmund’s hand into the ground.

“Ow!”

Caspian made a hoarse noise, coming like an explosion inside Edmund. Edmund knelt there and wondered what was supposed to happen next, his own needs having been almost entirely neglected so far. He looked up at Caspian, who seemed to snap out of wherever his mind had gone. Caspian pulled Edmund back against his chest and nuzzled the top of his head, stroking Edmund until he shuddered and came.

“Thank you,” Caspian breathed. “That was…very nice.”

“Wouldn’t you rather have this?” Edmund panted. It hadn't been good, but that wouldn't matter if Caspian would stop looking at him that way. This was the second time in his life he’d felt like such a whore. He noticed that Caspian was wiping his fingers on the grass with an expression of slight distaste. He'd never done that before, or maybe Edmund just hadn't noticed.

“Edmund…”Caspian said. “This, this isn’t going to change anything.” He stood and began to fix his clothes. “I’m sorry.” He swallowed hard. “You’ll understand some day when you’re older and you want a future and a family of your own.”

“But I have been older,” Edmund protested. “And I still want you.”

“I have other people to consider besides you.”

“I know that,” Edmund said. “I-” His heart plummeted at the realization that he’d given away the only bargaining chip he had left and it had resulted in nothing. Whatever he could do for Caspian, there was always one thing she could do that Edmund would never be able to.

“I plan to ask for her hand and I would love to see you at our wedding, I have no hard feelings toward you and I think we can end this like gentlemen,” Caspian said as if Edmund hadn’t spoke. “You are still my dearest and most trusted friend.”

“Right,” Edmund said stiffly and restrained himself from hurling one of his boots at Caspian’s head. “Friends. That’s what we are. Just friends.”
