So I downloaded the Junior Senior album "Hey hey, My my, Yo yo" on a whim and have been listening to it quite often for the past couple of weeks.
I recommended it to one of the guys I work with. We often trade CD's. He finds mine to be pretty hit-and-miss, and for me, his are never obscure enough (note the irony, as I've generally never heard of them) but are always filled with pop-fun hijinks.
So I told him to take the Album Leaf and Junior Senior home one night, informing him that the album leaf was really mellow, go-to-sleep/little man being erased type stuff. When he asked me what Junior senior sounded like, I was at a loss for words.
"Ummm, really upbeat to the point of almost being cheesy. I didn't even like them at first 'cause I thought the cheese factor was *way* overdone."
"Oh... so something like the postal service?"
In retrospect, here's what my response should have been:
"Junior senior is like the bastard child of the Postal Service and the hand-clapping freaks from the Junction if they had sex while they were all on ecstasy and Ben Gibbard was gay."
Yeah. I love that album.
He didn't quite as much as me. Apparently it was pretty gay sounding.
