Things Are Flowing

Things are moving along faster.   Our building is almost done with little repairs mandated by the building inspector.   We just need to post a visible external address on the front and take care of two external rotten window frames, one of which is ours (on the second floor).   I'm learning a lot about buiding maintenance.   I keep thinking of Ghandi when he was learning how to spin cloth.   Doing mundane work can be a meditation, a connection with self and an expansion of mind.
I got some e-mails from Rev. Annette about a Reiki class.   At the end of September, there will be an opening to receive the level II attunement to practice Reiki.   I have the book and need to study up.
Sunday, I attended the David Hawkins study group and was so intrigued to see a DVD of the guy.   It was easier to connect and see his humor and mind at work.   I have his first book and I'm into the first section.   It's interesting to see people who've been studying the lectures for years.   Through Hawkins, Peter discovered and completed a Course in Miracles and found a Unity church.   Peter's doing well in leading the Hawkins study group.   He lent me a DVD lecture called "God the Immanent and Transcendent" which is right up my alley and touches my questions on the specific nature of God.   Hawkins is theistic and prefers Lord over God in prayer, as well as the old thee and thou.   He believes God is obliged to accept our prayer when we clearly suplicate from a standpoint of submission.   Deep stuff...i look forward to digging deeper into the DVD, and I have to return it next week.
This is the second week my children are off with their aunt in San Jose, CA.   Things are ok, but they have the same behavior management issues we have.   There seems to be a rivalry bewtween Samuel and Jane and they must be frequently separated.   We are considering putting one or more on the swim team this Fall.   They are proficient enought to join, but it will mean a commitment to take them to practices and meets and the cost isn't as huge as taekwondo was.
Last Sunday, my wife and I watched The Curious Case of Benjamin Button.   It was a fascinating drama based on a novel written by F. Scott Fitzgerald.   The narrative technique was interesting.   A young woman was with her mother who was old and dying in a hospital in new Orleans as a storm was coming in.   The daughter read journal entries and ecountered an unusual man who she found out later was her biological father.   He was born old and became progreesively younger as his life progressed.   That means he was born wrinkled, with cataracts and his body was plagued by degenerative weakness.   His mother died in childbirth and his father dumpd him off at an old folks home in New Orleans.   The black caretaker took him in and raised him.   Growing up we was like a little old man in a wheelchair, but he grew progressively stronger and able to walk.   He faced so much loss in his life, because he saw people come and go in that old folks home.   His father one day reappeared and Benjamin had to forgive him for abandoning him.   There was so much in the movie that
I can devote future entries to aspects.   It was rich in human life and its preciousness and transience.   There was a lot about timing and taking opportunities when they pop up.   It gave one faith and gratitude to take whatever situation one had.   It was such a beautiful rich drama.   We must appreciate life and what it brings and the individuals who are imperfect or out of place can teach us so much.
Two weeks ago. I had a chat with the director of the School of Metaphysics in Chicago (SOM-Chicago).   It was fascinating and their approach would be a nice fit for me, but it's a commitment of time and money.   Nine months and a minimum of $20/week which would be hard now.   Perhaps in the future when things ease financially.   The beginning course takes one systematically through metaphysics with exercise each week.   There are fout levels including a doctorate of metaphysics.   It's something to think about and I got a free copy of a metaphysical study of thr gospel of Matthew, which I can't touch yet because of my preoccupation with the David Hawkins stuff.   I need to stay with the Hawkins stuff, as it's giving me a good metaphysical template to base other decisions and understandings on.
Samuel and Jane will fly back Saturday evening.   They resume school the following Wednesday.   It has been good to rest and refocus, as well as catch up on things at home.   I've been reconnecting with myself and my wife.   I'm excited at the changes going on in this country.   So much is getting realligned and progressing.   I feel a new energy emerging and a new niche for me.
