Here's a preview of what I'll be carrying with me at Arisia. Mind you, any of these can be made at any time, so go ahead and order one if you'd like. I still need to get these new beads (God, the Montana blue ... yummmm...) and row markers up at the
knitting counting bracelet website, so they're appearing here at LJ first.
The idea of the row markers is to match the bracelets, uniting the project not just from an aesthetic viewpoint but from a practical one as well.
Say you have two bracelets and are working on two knitting projects. You put one down, take off the bracelet, and walk away. When you come back, a week later, which bracelet goes with with project? If you used a matching row marker, you can instantly tell which counting bracelet is associated with which project.
Hopefully that'll be the end of not remembering which row you're on even if you're using a counting bracelet! (Surely I'm not the only person who has that happen.)
Here's a sampling of some random row markers. These are all made with sterling silver or gold-filled wire, Czech glass baroque pearls, and assorted crystal or glass beads, and either sterling or gold vermeil Bali mini-beads or bead caps. These aren't your average cheap plastic bead row markers; I'm using the same fine materials I do for my bracelets. These are jewelry for your knitting.
I will be making clasp-type markers in the next few weeks; for now, it's the closed-loop type. These row markers fit knitting needles up to US 11 (8 MM).
Price for the row markers is $1.50 each, 6 for $7 (a $2 savings).
Below is a knitting counting bracelet #1 using the new "Montana blue" Czech glass baroque pearls and matching cream glass pearls. This photo barely does the blue justice: it glows. It's one of those deep, royal blues that almost makes you want to eat it, it's so luscious. If you can't tell, I love this color. I'm so glad I ordered it on spec. The pass-through loop is made of 4MM blue iris glass beads, the clasp is a silver (rhodium) celtic toggle, fittings are sterling silver, and the charm a silver (plated on pewter) two-sided spiral cat.
And here's a sample of the matching row markers for the above bracelet:
Below is a knitting counting bracelet #1 with the new "light sapphire" Czech glass baroque pearls, olivine baroque pearls, 4MM turquoise glass beads, sterling silver fittings, silver (rhodium) Victorian garden clasp, and silver (plated on pewter) two-sided sunflower charm. I like to think it looks like a garden bracelet, but for knitting. :-)
And here are some matching row counters for the above bracelet:
And finally, here are two bracelets based on older designs and matching row markers for them. The first is faceted Czech glass in cobalt blue and amethyst purple with silver/crystal 4MM beads, sterling silver fittings, celtic clasp, and spiral cat charm. The second is a gold bracelet: green & gold Czech glass baroque pearls, 4MM green iris glass beads, gold-filled fittings, gold celtic clasp, and gold sheep charm.
