Step two

Update! I got a message from Carlos, as the "closee" is allowed to send one final note to the "closer." His said something along the lines of "I feel that we had a connection. Please reconsider." I tsked and said, "Really? Because I feel that you are slightly deranged." What can I say? E-dating brings out the worst in me.

So, today I went back into the wilds of Howell Mill Road for the iridotomy. I met again with Dr. Hamilton, who is super-nice and came recommended by my ophthalmologist as "the only surgeon I know who has a personality." He also looks vaguely like Steve Guttenberg. There were more measurements, and then I was ushered into a waiting room with the husband of one of the other ICL patients.

He sort of yammered at me in that good-natured yokel way as we watched MSNBC interview a Republican spokesperson. He posited that it was nice to see somebody standing up for the GOP in the media for once, because "all the stations are owned by Democrats." I said I was in journalism and tried to stand up for the media without being entirely combative. After a bit he asked, "So are you in print or what?" I replied, "No, I work for The Company." Then there was a long silence. Heh.

Then Dr. Hamilton came to get me and take me into the bowels of the medical building, which is sort of featureless and confusing in the manner of a set from "The Matrix." He put some drops in my eyes to make the irises constrict, but my pupils are so huge naturally that it took a double-dose. Then he put a lens on my eye and I looked into the laser.

I felt a couple of pops, like somebody had snapped a tiny rubber band inside my eye. Rinse, repeat, and we were done.

My vision is still a little blurry in my right eye, possibly because of pigment that got stirred up by the laser. Otherwise no pain or anything. Monday I go back to the Piedmont office for even more measurements. I'm just ready to get it done.
