I could actually be a Library Technician. Wow!
A library technician may perform the following tasks:
* Order, check and sort new library materials
* Search and check information or materials to be catalogued, such as books, DVDs, magazines and journals
* Maintain library records and circulation systems by entering data into computerised databases and editing computer records
* Enter cataloguing details onto networked online cataloguing databases such as the National Library's Kinetica cataloguing service
* Search online databases for copy cataloguing data
* Assist librarians to answer loan and reference queries at the counter or via telephone or email
* Operate audiovisual and photocopying equipment
* Produce display and publicity material
* Arrange loans to and from other libraries [inter-library loans, in other words]
* Conduct library tours and reader education
* Assist client use of CD-ROM, online databases and internet services
* Use internet resources nto provide inter-library loan services to clients
* Organise the binding of library materials.
[This is right up my alley!]
Personal requirements:
* A methodical approach to work
* A keen eye for detail
* Good communication skills
* Good organisational skills
* Enjoy computers
* Good interpersonal skills.

The kicker is, the basis for all this? Yeah, that's a BA in the schools of Social Sciences and Humanities. [Wheee! Guess what I majored in?] When I've finished my BA (which won't be for a year and a bit, yet), I get to look forward to more school. Woe. At least, by then, I'll (hopefully) be working, and earning money...
I'll need to get a Graduate Diploma, as well. This can be done at TAFE (Technical And Further Education) SA colleges; "Diploma of Library/Information Services". 4 years, Part-time, Internal. W00t!
