Meeting V . . . for lunch!
V had messaged me early in the week to say he was in London for two days on Thursday and Friday.
I had to reply that it wasn’t possible for me to meet any evening this week, but he messaged back asking if I could join him for lunch on Thursday.
It was really nice to sit and chat and catch-up. We talked mostly about work and business . . . a glass of wine turned into a bottle, and an hour turned into two . . . but each time we meet, V talks a little more about his “family” and the past. He really is a remarkable, and interesting person, and completely different in private conversation, than his business persona and reputation.
And more than anything, he is just very charming and the perfect gentleman. He never once mentioned the fact that I couldn’t see him that evening . . . and as we exchanged our kiss-on-the-cheek goodbyes, I was embarrassed to find it was me who was squeezing his hand and telling him “let me know when you’re next back”.
A nice, and relaxing, interlude to what has been a horrible week in the office !!!
