Well, anyway

I have been putting off writing this for almost a month now. I really don't want to revisit it--just a rather depressing series of events, with people taking the shortsighted easy ways, ignoring that there is going to be a piper to pay sooner or later.

Three charges, all misdemeanor level: statutory rape, domestic assault and false imprisonment. The girl was 17 with a 6 month old baby named after the father, who was 21, and they were not married. The picture showed a bright red thumb sized contusion on the side of her neck, and five scratch marks, that us jury figured were from her own hand trying to pry the choking hand away.

This girl has 2 or 3 (or four?) older sisters, it was hard to keep track, but the only people who were married as far as I know were the females' parents, and they live in North Carolina. Two of these older sisters are paired with the defendant's two uncles and those three unmarried pairings lived in one house, along with at least three resultant children. And then another sister moved in along with her child, and this sister plays an important part in the story because her bedroom was across the hall from our two major players' bedroom.

Okay. Long and short, daddy gets home around 10:00 after getting somewhat lit at a friend's house, wants to play with baby, mommy doesn't let him (baby sleeping), hangs out in sister's room, finally needs to go to her room for formula. Arguement with battery, mommy back in sister's room around 12:00. Daddy yells and punches mirror, attracting matriarch sister from upstairs. Daddy punches mirror a second time, this this time injuring himself critically, and since the family can't get the blood to stop they call 911.

Well, the 911 operator sends the police as well as an ambulance, since the guy punched a mirror, the police get to go in first to make sure it is safe. And the policeman who gets called has been here before. He's already met the cast of characters, but first time didn't quite realize that mommy was under-age. The first time he was there, daddy was way more drunk, and he negotiated mommy to leave the house with an older sister who didn't live there (but I don't think it was the one that moved in, so I think there is a fourth sister, but again I'm not sure). Oh, and the arguement was about the same, daddy wanted to play with baby, and mommy didn't want him to because he was so drunk.

Thats enough for now.
