I am going. I am going. I am going. Going, going, going, going. Going. I need this fact to actually congeal in my head. Today I bummed around all day playing Simcity 4. This cannot continue.
But because one of my modii operandi (sp?) has always been that mind must always deliver a giant can of whoop-ass to matter when times call for it, and because my conscious mind (if not my subconscious) has woken up to the fact that if one is to catch a flight to London, one ought to have packed beforehand, I have prepared this to-do list which comprises the period that begins on the morning of Tuesday, September 12 and ends on the evening of Friday, September 15. Honestly, you don't have to read it. It's mostly for me, because LJ is the most convenient place to put this kind of thing.
- I need to, duh, pack. Clothing, toiletries to get me started, some photos, some foldables to cover a wall. I need my computer, and I need to go through my giant box of computer parts and pick out what I am most likely to need: screwdrivers of a few sizes, the 2.5 to 3.5 inch IDE adapter (I always need that at completely random times!), some screws of North American gauges (because I don't know if they use the same screws in Europe and what if I lose one!), some useful audio cables (especially the 1/4 inch to RCA splitter), the data card reader, extra USB A/B and A/MiniB cables, an extra Firewire cable, some blank CDs, probably a lot of stuff I missed. It's a good thing I use a laptop, because all the parts are proprietary and you have to order them as you need them. If I had a desktop, I'd be compiling a Noah's Ark of standard parts so I'd never have to buy anything. You'd be amazed just how much standard computer shit I've amassed.
- I need to do the rounds in Maplewood. I need to deposit the check Mucci gave me and withdraw a few grand in Travellers' Checks. Jess/Shann, how much did you bring with you to your countries?
- I need to kick my website in the ass. Today I got most of the important stuff off, including my Israel photos and captions. The notable failure so far is last year's school notes. (They changed the software's configuration file into a fucking animation of fireworks! GRAAAHH) When will I learn to back EVERYTHING up? I need to keep working on that; then I need to figure out who runs our DNS and get it changed over to Stefan's server. From there it's about two and a half hours (plus DNS propagation) to a working blog. Hackers, if you're reading this, your ass is grass. I hate you, I hate you, and I will be your curse on cyber world.
- I need to spam everyone I know. Once the web site is back up I need to start to send e-mails to people advertising my blog and my eternal hopes and dreams for the future. I'm sending an individual e-mail to most professors (not Heather, I already talked to her) and past teachers who I still keep in touch with, and a universal spam to everyone else. This requires compiling a list of everyone I know, which I started to do in Montreal but is an incredibly daunting task. I also need to e-mail my host with my arrival details, iron out final London plans with Daniel, and should probably get back in touch with Anne-Laure's French cousin.
And I'm sure more will follow. I'm a moron.
