Hardware shops

Does anyone know whether there are any hardware shops in Edinburgh that still sell things like screws, nails, and bolts loose rather than in packets?

Not exactly what you asked, but in case it's helpful: I recently needed some cot bed bolts -- freely available on ebay (just Google "cot bed bolts" and you'll find exactly what I'm talking about) but I needed them today. Wickes, Homebase, B&Q, Screwfix all failed to stock them, but they had them in the Home Hardware store in Morningside. The guy in there was extremely helpful and seemed to know everything there was to know about nuts, bolts, screws and stuff. But even their stock is mostly prepackaged, though.
