Ramblings

So its been awhile since I've posted, and I've hardly managed to keep to my weekly update plan. Since my last update I've turned twenty-four. Nothing much to report for that, pretty uneventful. I got a call from my brother, which ended in an argument over when a week begins and ends. Admittedly by the textbook definition I was wrong, don't tell him though. To me a week begins on Monday with the first day of work and ends on Sunday, the sabbath and day of rest. Of course the textbook definition is the week begins with Sunday and ends on Saturday, the Jewish sabbath and day of rest. I'm going to stick with my definition, it fits my perceptions nicely. Anyways, Tiffany also called on my birthday, which was a much more pleasant conversation. That's really about all that happened for my birthday, the party mentioned in my previous entry never happened, unsurprisingly. I did get some nice cards, one from Mom & Eugene, two from Tiff (one silly & one serious), and one from Carli. Also from home I got two books; Michael Crichton's "State of Fear" and "Cracking DaVinci's Code", Lego Star Wars video game, and peanut butter chocolate rice krispies treats mom makes for the holidays. All of which I enjoyed.
The next weekend held two other birthdays, Halley's and Tiffany's. I called both of them to give birthday wishes and neither answered. Tiffany did return my call the next day though, Halley hasn't called me since.
Shortly thereafter I journeyed to California for Thanksgiving. That's where Tiff is going to Tech School to learn arabic. Tim was also there. On Thanksgiving we went and played some football. My side lost. I did get in one good completion. Until then I had never realized how then the air is here in Utah. That much activity usually leaves me dead within a few minutes here, and while I was still winded there it wasn't nearly as bad. The next day I was rather sore from the activity. For dinner we had a big twenty pound turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn, marshmallow candied yams, celery with homemade pimento cheese, pumpkin pie, and apple pie. Did I also mention that there were about ten people there? We had it at the house of one of Tiff's classmates, which is also where me and Tim stayed. The next day we went into San Jose to see the Winchester Mystery House, which I've posted pics of on Facebook. Look it up on the net if you don't know what it is. Then we went into San Francisco and took some pictures along the beach near the Golden Gate Bridge. We had dinner at Bubba Gump's at Pier 31. The next day we dropped Tim off at the airport before going back into San Fran for lunch and such. Dropped me off at the airport a little behind schedule, and when I made it through security they were starting to board my flight. Luckily my gate was right there and there were no problems.
Outside of those specific events, there's been a few things going on. I've gone two church for two straight weeks now and plan to do so regularly. Thanks to Carli for encouraging me into something that I have been needing to do, and meaning to do, but never did. I've been doing a good bit of reading, first was "Cracking DaVinci's Code" which has helped me in several ways, and also helped motivate me into going to church here. Second was "State of Fear", an interesting read that is based on global warming, and has some interesting points. Currently I'm reading Bram Stoker's "Dracula", for at least the third time, I first read it in ninth grade for English class. Currently I do most of my reading in the bath before going to bed. Yes I realize this is weird, but its the perfect time for me to relax, especially after work. Next on my list is "God of Sex", which is by one of the author's of "Cracking DaVinci's Code" which about the connection between theology and sexuality. Like the DaVinci book it had references for the information presented, which should be a good reading considering what I've been taught and what I believe. Also I've rediscovered something that I thought gone and over. Yes that's vague, and purposefully so, because I realize its futility but can't ignore its existence. Its rather personal, so I'm not going to elaborate. I have a new goal, to try and see a new movie every week. For most not much of a goal, but considering my social apathy it's something to attain. So far I've seen Casino Royale and The Prestige, both good movies. There are quite a few movies out that I want to see.
Now for work. In a few weeks I'll be taking my end of course test for my 2AX7X CDC's. Once that's done I only need to be signed off on a few tasks before I can be upgraded to a 7-level. This is something I want so that if I get to retrain I'll be able to test for Tech Sergeant even though I'll be a 3 or 5-level in the new job. I'm also the travel pod monitor at work, which is a pain in my posterior. I had to find all of our pods, get them sorted out, appropriate a few, and I have to get them all inspected. These inspections are the biggest pain. The inspection is only for the part that is used to hang them from the jet. However several have been stuck, any that are painted have to be stripped, and this is on top of working jets, so I don't always have alot of time to do it. Plus several need repairs so I'm trying to get parts... it's all a big mess. I'm getting close to completion though. Working the jets has been allright. My jet has been broke every day this week. We've been working ten hours almost every day.
That's enough rambling for now.
