Well stuck trying to update FFXI, so thought I would come on here and explain last night .....
SE decided to take the FFXI servers down for maintainance, so HNM Windows were reset. After much debating over the Linkshell Forums, we decided to goto Fafnir. We hurried along, and much to our surprise, it wasnt up when we first got there. DB + OS also came and joined us down in the Aery ..... then it spawns ...... ...... ....... (Adding suspense to the whole journal =P) ...... and Phatdan got the claim. So the linkshell gets into position and there I am hurrying to the Aery to help out. I get there, and already the linkshell has took around 35% of it's HP away. However, things start to go bad. We had a lack of melee down there (Think our only true DDs were 2 RNGs) but plenty of mages. We try and wear him down, but then his sleep resistance starts to increase (Even tho one time, I did manage to sleep him without Elemental Seal, which is pretty impossible ^^). His HP starts to rise back up .... to around 80% full. Sleep was only sticking for a few seconds, so we pretty much had to bite our tongues and try and push forward.
I've fought Fafnir 3 times before..... I can say that this one was the MOST intense fight of the lot!
At one point, I thought we were gonna wipe. We had hardly any melee, his resistance to sleep was increasing, and our mages were weak, HP and MP wise.
The call was given, we were to attack with all we could. Slowly we started to wear him down. His HP started to drop, 70% ... 60% .... 50% .... 40% .... 30% ..... This was where we had to stop, we pushed so hard and we finally made some ground. Luckily, his Sleep Resistance had decreased, so we were able to sleep him for short time for a rest.
We were so close ..... yet still so far. After a short rest, we pushed on. Everything we could do, we did. BLMs started to Manafont, WHMs started to use Benediction due to lack of MP, slowly .... slowly .... we marched on to victory.
Journey's End defeats Fafnir .....
Journey's End defeats there 1st HNM.
