I feel like I've gotten a lot better at distinguishing hobby from career in the past little bit. Teaching social studies is something I know I'll be able to enjoy while making a living. That's a career. Music is a hobby. I love music, more than most anything, but I don't want to be broke for the rest of my life and I don't have the time to study it at a scholarly level. If at some point in my life I'm able to make money making music, awsome. If not, I still have something that lets me express myself without being destructive.
Learning to seperate hobby from career is an important part of growing up. Conversely, making sure that you have a hobby is vital to overall happiness.
