Last Saturday, my dad and I went to Lindburg Quarry to pick up some Kona Dolamite. The pit that's open for the public to work in is getting pretty picked over, but we found some really great stuff. Better then the last two or three trips. Every color and pattern. I'm guessing it was all uncovered in the last round of blasting. Absolutely love the yellow and gray bee-striped stuff. And the most "exciting" moment? They closed before we got out! They used to close at two, but it seems they switched it back to noon, so when we pulled up to the scales, no one was in the building. The gate was double locked and we didn't know any other way out. You have to weigh in, so you'd think that they would keep track of who goes in and out. So we drove over to the other, non-public pit to ask the workers using the heavy equipment to let us out. They actually work for a different company, and they showed us the road they use in and out. Dad told them that we usaually pay about the same amount everytime we come, so we'd just stop in and pay on our next trip up, which happens to be this Saturday. They were nice enough to not make us dump our finds.
So I was able to Saturday off (a thousand blessing on Courtney, who traded shifts with me) so I'm going to the 31st Annual Upper Peninsula Gem and Mineral Show in Ishpeming. This will be my first time going, and I'm very excited.
Also, random website pimpage:
http://www.thezombiehunters.com has totally eaten up my time. It's a webcomic with great art (see my new icon) and greater characters (they're real people, friends of the artist and they all help out) and some really friendly people in the forums, so check it out!
