fandom 2010 - picspam

Another year is almost over and here's a list of most memorable things about fandom in 2010. Those are my subjective choices, so please no bashing.
Made for CHALLENGE 25: YEAR-END LIST at picspammy

→ movies
Alice in Wonderland (2010), Black Swan (2010), The Hurt Locker (2008), Inception, Life As We Know It (2010), Malice In Wonderland (2009), RED (2010), Sherlock Holmes (2009).
This is not a list of the best movies of 2010. Not all of them even are from 2010. This is a list, in alphabetical order, of movies I've seen for the first time in 2010. They are very different, some better some worse. For some I've been waiting a very long time and other were a random pick and amazing surprise. It's a very subjective list of movies that made impression on me and when I think back, those are the most memorable for me. In 2010 I've watched so far 69 movies.

→ tv series
Cast, Damages, Flashforward, Fringe, Lie To Me, Lost, Lost Girl, Sports Night, The Good Wife, The Pacific, The Vampire Dairies, White Collar.
Once again, only new seasons or shows watched for the first time in 2010. If I wanted to add rewatches, that list would be incredibly long. Biggest discovery of the year, definitely Lost Girl. It may not be the best show ever but it has amazing atmosphere, fun stories and hot & talented cast. It also has Ksenia Solo, one of my biggest girl crushes of this year. The biggest disappointment, FlashForward getting canceled, I know lots of people, unfortunately too many, though it was boring but I loved the show, the idea and characters. I'm still far from forgiving ABC for not giving them another season.

→ books
Sarah Addison Allen 'Garden Spells'; Brunonia Barry 'The Lace Reader' & 'The Map of True Places'; Janet Evanovich 'Stephanie Plum Series'; Kami Garcia & Margaret Stohl 'Beautiful Darkness'; Charlaine Harris 'Harper Connelly Mysteries'; Alice Hoffman 'Practical Magic', 'The Probable Future' & 'Turtle Moon'; Stieh Larsson 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo'; Melissa Marr 'Wicked Lovely Series'; Kate Morton 'The House at Riverton'
Oh wow, that was probably the hardest category to make choices for. First it was four titles, then eight and it ended with twelve. Looks like my themes for 2010 reading were magic and family secrets. And crime of course, I'm a mystery girl and will never give up my favorite genre, though I'll keep mixing it with some fantasy and humor. In 2010 I've read so far 56 books.

→ music
God Help the Girl 'God Help the Girl', Laura Marling 'I Speak Because I Can', Mumford & Sons 'Sigh No More', Sia 'We Are Born', Black Swan OST, Country Strong OST, Eclipse OST, Sherlock Holmes OST.
When it comes to music, 2010 was slightly disappointing. I'm not saying there wasn't great, new music. I think I got lazy and didn't look for new thinga and just stick to those I already new and loved. Here are few albums (released/discovered in 2010) that are most memorable. Mostly they show that my music taste is pretty broad, or maybe weird. ;) And yes, that the Twilight: Eclipse OST, because no matter what I think about the movies, once again the soundtrack gave us great music like Sia's My Love, Florence + The Machine's Heavy In Your Arms and The Black Keys' Chop and Change.

→ people
Katherine Heigl, Rachel McAdams, Mary-Louise Parker, Ksenia Solo, Kirk Acevedo, Josh Charles, Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner
Or how it should be called: crushes 2010. Some are new, some I've loved for years. All incredibly hot and talented. They're my dream team of 2010.

→ discovery of the year,
author of the year & book of the year
Emily St. John Mandel 'Last Night in Montreal' & 'The Singer's Gun'
This was for sure the easiest choice from the whole list. Emily St. John Mandel is my discovery of the year and her debut novel, Last Night in Montreal, my book of the year. It was one of those books picked up for some very random and weird reason that became one of my favorite books ever.

"Last Night in Montreal is a story of love, amnesia, compulsive travel, the depths and the limits of family bonds, and the nature of obsession."

→ the 'Squeee of the Year' award
One For The Money, based on the novel by Janet Evanovich. Katherine Heigl as Stephanie Plum, Daniel Sunjata as Ranger, Jason O'Mara as Joe Morelli, Sherri Shepherd as Lula & Debbie Reynolds as Grandma Mazur
I spent way too much time squeeing and obsessing about it this summer. I can't put it in the movie category, because there's no movie yet. Filming ended in early September and the US release is planned for July 8, 2011.I know there's lots of negativity about it but I was happy to find people as excited about as I am.
