Hey there, guys! I, lucky little person that I am, got the Rook trilogy for Christmas, but as of Twig's story in LotSP, I've run into a rather large snag in terms of a fic I'm planning.
Basically, there's a problem with the story Twig tells Rook (and with Twig in general, but I'll get to that in a minute).
First of all, there's the matter of precisely when he visited the Free Glades. According to Twig, it was a very long time ago, but... he mentions seeing skycraft. Skycraft weren't invented until after The Slaughterer's Quest, in which Tweezel perfects the varnish needed to stabalize the sumpwood. Which means that when Twig came to the Free Glades, Keris would have been there, and she's never mentioned. Surely she would have gone to be reunited with her father, even though Twig didn't stay for all that long.
As for Twig himself - we all know about his hammelhornskin waistcoat, right? The one he gave to Keris when he left the slaughterer village, with his father's portrait miniature inside it? So, if he left without it... why does he have one when Rook meets him? Maybe I'm just being a ditz, but it's implied to be the same one, so just what it going on with that?
I know most if not all of this could be put down to retcon-ing and such, but I'm trying to think of in-character reasons for them.
Ah, inconsistent Edge canon, how I both love and loathe thee.
On a completely different note - it's the Edge Chronicles TV Tropes page! I've been adding to it for a while, but I'd love it if any other Tropers in the community wanted to join in, especially with the Crowner, JBM and WMG pages.Oh, and given that we're slowly but surely fanning the fic flames, why don't we all find some quality fanfic to promote on the Fanfic Recs page?
