Description: Jeanne-Marie bakes Pike a pie!
Cherry Pie seemed to have the ability to make everything better. The smell of freshly baked warmth and joy right out of the oven had healing qualities, the wafting scent scaring away the ghosts of yesterday. Jeanne-Marie had woken up with the need to bake pie. She was sore, dirty, a complete mess, and her stockings were missing. She didn't need to think about it, not the aching in her head or in her bones. All she needed was a bath and to bake.
She had always been good at telling herself what she needed above all else and actually doing it. There was no better distraction than pie.
Tugging the curlers out of her hair, Jeanne-Marie hummed a little tune and got dressed. She lived alone, she had no need for a pie. No, that's what neighbors were for. Rolling her stockings on and slipping into her shoes, she grabbed the pie with her mitts, walking down the street and knocking on Pike's door.
Everyone liked pie, it was the best sort of distraction.
