The boys are back in town

I seriously LOVE this time of year. That's right, it's time for hockey to begin!! I went to my first game of the season last night, which was the preseason match-up of the Thrashers and the Blues (my two favourites, yay!!). I love that chill that you get after you've walked into the arena, when you first walk down that portal to your section and then you get in, you look down and there's this sheet of pure ice. You can smell it and it's in your bones.

And what sort of fan would I be if there weren't any pictures right? This was my first time taking real action shots with my new digital camera, so some of them didn't come out like I hoped, but many came out alright! I sat on the glass for the warm-ups in the St. Louis end, trying to spy someone I recognised from the Blues days of yore, but sadly, I didn't see many. It's a totally re-constructed team. Yes, some of the newbies are oldies (Doug Weight, Bill Guerin, Manny Legace, etc...), but most are "who's that???"

Like this dude...

and this one...

the one on the right I did recognise, Jamal Mayers still plays for them!

Eric Brewer - acquired last year from Edmonton in the trade for Chris Pronger *sniffle*

Curtis Sanford - #1 netminder last night, one of the many Blues goalies that was on the 'goalie-go-round' back in 2004

Ryan Johnson - who has nice hair and is the cousin of ... someone ... who plays for the Preds??? I don't remember!!

Taking the face-off

The most brilliant thing about my new camera is that it takes VIDEO!! So, I was able to do something we've NEVER done at a hockey game before, film! I got some awesome footage of the Blues warming up, some of the Thrashers coming out during the starting line-up annoucements and some during the national anthem. I love this little camera.

Now for something completely different...I've decided that I want to go to Amsterdam. Some of you who may be reading this, bless your little heart if you are, may not know that I LOVE to travel. In fact, I want to go just about everywhere. The 'National Geographic Traveler' magazine is a new favourite of mine. :)
(Did you know that I am studying Journalism at school in hopes of one day becoming a travel writer?? Some people think I'm crazy, but how could you not love being paid to go on vacation?)
And well, if that doesn't work out according to plan, there's always hockey. If I could score a job with 'The Hockey News' or something, I would be equally as thrilled. And I don't want to work in the American branch in Buffalo, I want the one in Ontario.

By the way, the Thrashers won 1-0 with a lone goal from Ilya Kovalchuk. Sweet.
